The Truth about Working from Home – Sophie Bate

The Truth about Working from Home

It can be lonely to work remotely, but I suppose that won’t come as a surprise to most people.

Yes, there’s no dress code, no long commute, and no need to pack lunch, but there’s also no in-person human interaction or communication all day.

A Strong Network

Luckily for me, I work with a brilliant team (we’re all women which, personally I love). Every morning, I jump on a call with them, and we talk, talk about our days, our afternoons the previous day and this 30-minute call just reminds us that there are other people on the team that are working remotely and are just a phone call away when you need them.

I think that this network support is beyond the most important thing in the business, it’s the glue that makes working remote, well – work! That’s why when I found the Assist Women’s Network, I knew it was something that I could get behind. They share this love and passion for a strong network of like-minded women.

At 10X Marketing Consultancy, we’re also given a lot of freedom over our working hours, which I am a strong advocate for in any remote working situation. The truth is that there isn’t any solid way to track your workforce when everyone is remote. Trust and honesty are absolutely imperative for the business to succeed.

We manage our client’s social media platforms, delivering high-quality content that boosts brand awareness, improves lead generation and turns prospects into customers.

By acting as an extension of our clients’ business, we enable you to unlock the skills and expertise of an entire content marketing team without the additional cost of an in-house marketing team.

If you’re considering working from home, I would absolutely recommend it! Personally, I have two dogs (otherwise known as my babies) who I couldn’t leave for 8 hours at a time, so it works perfectly alongside my life. I get to take them out for a walk at dinner and finish my lunch sitting on the couch!

Why is Everyone Working from Home?

A quick google search shows that the most common remote working jobs are Customer service representatives, Data analysis, Accounting, Graphic Designer & Social Media Manager (that’s me) and Web developers, but more and more job opportunities are propping up over time.

Why is this? Well, the world as we know it is being digitalised, and everything (or almost everything) can be done on a laptop, iPad, phone, or computer. And after covid forced many workplaces to go remote, they realised there was no good reason to return to the old ways.

While I’m not too sure what effect this will have on mine and younger generations and workforces in the grand scheme of things, for now it just makes sense! I wrote a similar blog on the challenges with hybrid working and some tips on how to make it run smoother here.
