Vaina Lumbiwa
'A Seat at the Table' Project
Hi, my name is Vaina Lumbiwa. I am a beauty therapist based in Teesside. I have a passion for beauty and also promote that beauty comes from within. I am a director of Miss Black History North East, a pageant that empowers young women in the north east to think beyond their looks with the theme, ‘more than the face’. I have a vision of inspiring as many young women as I am able to, discover and develop their purpose in life and maximise their skills and potential for their benefit.
I am also one of the moderators of the Black Creatives and Arts Network in Teesside. This is a network created for black creatives to network and connect, giving them a platform to express themselves and to enable them to get recognised.
Furthermore I am an executive member of Taste of Africa, a Middlesborough based charity that promotes cohesion and inclusion within the Black community. I work with the Creative Youth Leadership Programme run by Taste of Africa. A programme for the youth created to enrich young minds and help mould them to be responsible young adults in society.
Being heavily invested in the community has enabled my passion for working to uplift as many people in their lives as I can, creating a platform to help individuals elevate their skills and develop their abilities. Joining ASATT will increase my ability and knowledge of being a leader.
