First and foremost, I’m a mother striving for a better world for my children to grow up in. I want to see people succeed most specifically I want to see people on Teesside succeed. My professional persona is a Chartered Accountant and Business Finance Professional living and working on Teesside trying to help people succeed at what they love doing.

I always thought that I was going to be a PE teacher when I was younger. I was passionate about sport and I had an amazing mentor at school who was my PE teacher and in hindsight I wanted to be just like her. As it happens, I should have always known that I was destined for accountancy because for fun I would spend hours sat at the table adding up the products in the Argos catalogue with a calculator.

Roll forward to 2008 when I embarked on my accountancy journey which began on a course with the North East Chamber of Commerce and a placement at a Middlesbrough accountancy firm who taught me the foundations for everything that I know today. It wasn’t until 2016 that I found my accountancy home at Stockton firm Anderson Barrowcliff LLP who share my values of putting people first. Two years later, I qualified as a Chartered Accountant something that is attributable to my family and the firm as a result of the support that I received.

Roll forward another two years and here I am, trying to figure out how I can contribute more to my community using the skills that I have acquired.

Assist Women’s Network is the first of its kind that I’ve come across and it was a very happy accident through looking for a book club and it happened to be on personal development books which I’d just started getting into.
