Paul J Watson Solicitor.
Chartered Manager of a Middlesbrough Law Firm in criminal defence and family law. I have worked in the legal sector for over 20 years. During that time, I have had the opportunity to run a variety of community projects, with refugees and asylum seekers, underprivileged youths, domestic abuse survivors and kinship carers.
Chartered Manager of law firm offering specialist advice in criminal & family law. I currently have a team of 10 staff & deal with all aspects of law firm management; strategic planning, business development, marketing, IT/social media/website development and management, Professional Indemnity Insurance & practising certificate renewals, finance, HR & recruitment, billing, Legal Aid contract compliance and audits, Corporate Social Responsibility, risk management & client care. I am responsible for ensuring that high standards of compliance with practice & regulatory requirements are met.
I am particularly interested in Equality & Diversity & set up a school partnership offering work experience for underprivileged youths and have implemented various community projects which resulted in a number of business awards. Our firm is a signatory to the Law Society’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter, a voluntary scheme confirming firms’ commitment to promoting & establishing best practice.
I am a Fellow of the Chartered Managers Institute, Professional Member of the Chartered Quality Institute and Student member of the CIPD.
I would like to see change amongst big businesses for having seats for women at the table, not just through gender but also through disability.
Assist is a great place to meet, connect and collaborate with businesswomen from across the Tees Valley. It's welcoming and informal atmosphere for networking, combined with the diverse range of business topics it addresses on behalf of its members is both interesting and informative. This winning combination means i learn something new each time i attend and its why i keep coming back.
I found Assist through a love of books and a desire for personal development but what I discovered was so much more. Whatever you come to Assist for it will benefit all aspects of your life; personal, professional and community. It is positive action for women on Teesside to support and empower each other and most importantly, to thrive. Why would you not want to be a part of this?

Having struggled for a while to find a womens network in Teesside, i stumbled across of the Assist events by chance. How happy i am that i did. Ann and the team make the networking fun and relevant, informative and comfortable. I've made several really good business connections, but mostly i've met some great women who i know i could turn to for advice, or even just to meet for a coffee. We all face the same issues within business and personally and the Assist meet's allow collaboration, suggestion, support and smiles. Thank you Assist x
