Nominations for 2021/22 are now open...
Our Goodwill Ambassador for 2021/22 will be announced Friday 5th March. Nominations are now CLOSED – thank you to all who nominated.
Assist exists to support and promote and inspire professional women and in 2020, launched a new role as ‘Goodwill Ambassador’, with the aim of acknowledging the enlightened leadership or practice of someone significant. Our inaugural Ambassador is the remarkable Yasmin Khan, whose tenure lasts until March; we now need your help to identify the next woman who will support our work, influence change and leave a lasting legacy in the Tees Valley. The Goodwill Ambassador is key to Assist’s long-term strategy and has a seat at the Assist Strategy Board which meets once a quarter for a stake in this dynamic network.

Assist celebrated ten year’s service last year and launched an annual ambassador award to recognise one amazing business or professional woman from the Tees Valley, open to every sector, industry and for businesses of all ages and sizes. The ambassador awards 2020 were the leading celebration of Assists IWD20 – Reclaiming Hidden Teesside Women #UntoldStories on the 6th March 2020 in Middlesbrough Town Hall, shining a light on some of the best, most innovative and most determined Teesside women. This year, we will again crown our Goodwill Ambassador for 2021 on IWD21 – 5th March, the perfect day to celebrate the new GA21/22.
This is a 12 month honour taking us to International Women’s Day 2022, when next January we will be seeking our next ambassador, planting a tree and plaque right next to this years winner in our designated space for Tees Valley women and girls to visit with their families as we give recognition to you and other fellow ambassadors. The application form for our Goodwill Ambassador 2021/22 is below, please send all too hello@assistwomensnetwork.co.uk with the subject ‘GA Application 2021’.
Our Goodwill Ambassador for 2020/21 is Yasmin Khan.
Having struggled for a while to find a womens network in Teesside, i stumbled across of the Assist events by chance. How happy i am that i did. Ann and the team make the networking fun and relevant, informative and comfortable. I've made several really good business connections, but mostly i've met some great women who i know i could turn to for advice, or even just to meet for a coffee. We all face the same issues within business and personally and the Assist meet's allow collaboration, suggestion, support and smiles. Thank you Assist x

Since joining Assist I have been invited to events including Hidden Women of Teesside, where I had the chance to network with local business women and build contacts. I felt very welcomed and part of something supportive of where I'm at today and what I'm trying to achieve. I now have an experienced mentor for the next year to help me focus and build my dreams. Lastly I was invited to the Assist Christmas meal which was amazing as being self-employed and a small grassroots organisation, it can get lonely so I was grateful for the opportunity to connect with other women feeling the same way and trying to achieve great things.

Assist is a great place to meet, connect and collaborate with businesswomen from across the Tees Valley. It's welcoming and informal atmosphere for networking, combined with the diverse range of business topics it addresses on behalf of its members is both interesting and informative. This winning combination means i learn something new each time i attend and its why i keep coming back.

I found Assist through a love of books and a desire for personal development but what I discovered was so much more. Whatever you come to Assist for it will benefit all aspects of your life; personal, professional and community. It is positive action for women on Teesside to support and empower each other and most importantly, to thrive. Why would you not want to be a part of this?
